As I've posted, I will be moving to Pennsylvania soon. There are changes everyone has to make when moving but for piping that will be a unique learning experience! There is different maintenance involved for true cold weather and I welcome other pipers advice. Being Tampa Bay's full time bagpiper has been a great blessing and honor and I have had a great time being there for you all in your time of need and times of celebration.
There are many great pipers and bands in the area of Tampa Bay ( now Champa Bay or Tompa Bay) which I will supply a list to those who have asked. The piping community is a tight knit one and I am very grateful for that! I've already had suggestions on bands to get involved with up there and I look forward to seeing how that Celtic scene is. One thing I am very excited for is the Piobaireachd club in PA and I am excited to up my piobaireachd game.
For me, this has been so much more than playing a few tunes, I've had the opportunity to pray with folks, share a little wisdom, encourage, and be a blessing to thousands of people. To be able to pipe for a living has been a blessing from God and my wife's push (she is also a great blessing from God) has been needed and very much honored! Thank you all for all the bagpiping, and I look forward to the next time I get to serve you.
We walk in an unsure time, not knowing when we can truly gather together again. Thankfully bagpipes are hundreds of years versed in enforcing distance but we proudly continue that tradition. There are some new thinks comes here and I look forward to sharing soon!
I continue to serve the Tampa Bay community with socially distanced performances, private to corporate. Continue to be kind to one another as we all are going through this together and have extra patience for small business owners like me as we get taxes together. 2020 was a hard year for small businesses and the piping world and though it doesn't look great for the piping community, I pray it turns better for the mom and pop stores.
This year marks 10 years as a full time musician and I couldn't of gone this far without the love and support of my wife. We also celebrate 10 years together and I know we will last much longer than my piping career will. I love you Rachel for all your encouragement and support!
Happy Robert Burns Day!
As we continue each week with new orders for keeping each other safe, the new normal is nothing is normal. Now, since nothing is typical anymore why not have a piper play for event? Bagpipes are designed for social distancing and can be hear for a great distance, and some say they sound better further away haha. We all are in a difficult position and know I will continue to work with your budget to provide that touch of celtic tradition.
I do ask one thing to keep in mind is I, like millions of other musicians, have bills to pay and do like to be able to eat from time to time. Though the highlight has been on servers and cooks, we are the live entertainment at those restaurants and event centers that set the atmosphere to enjoy that meal. As a full time bagpiper in Tampa Bay this has been hurting my playing like pipers around the USA and internationally but we continue with our craft to get better and bring you great music.
I am here to serve the community, the great state of Florida and our country so please reach out regardless the location and allow me to make a joyful noise at your event! Bagpipes always evoke strong feelings and I always do my best to bring the tunes to best add to your special occasion. Keep well, wash your hands, wear your mask when required or difficult to social distance yourself, and be a blessing to one another!
With the latest directive I am able to perform again throughout Florida! Other states will have to be researched if you are requesting my services outside of Florida or the United States.
